이호일(고양 관산, 대회핸디 28점) 동호인이 ‘제1회 구미시장배 전국동호인 당구대회’ 일반부 3쿠션 개인전 결승서 정유진(부산BMC, 20점) 동호인을 19:9으로 제압, 우승을 차지했다.
해당 대회는 5일 경북 구미시 구미코 컨벤션센터 전시장에 마련된 특설무대서 예선(1~4부 총 19개조)을 거쳐 본선 32강 토너먼트로 최종 승자를 가렸다.
그 결과 이호일 동호인이 정상을 밟아, 우승상금 500만원과 ‘프레데터’ 큐(템바가) 및 벤티지 상대(235만원 상당)의 주인공이 됐다.
시상식 후 이 동호인은 “클럽을 운영하느라 당구를 약 10년 간 당구를 제대로 못 쳐왔다. 그래서 당구장을 접을까 고민중”이란 의외의 소감을 남겼다.
경기도 내에서 소문난 실력자인 이호일 동호인은 지난해 11월 경기도 시흥체육관에서 열린 ‘제1회 프롬배 전국 당구장사장님 3쿠션’ 준우승을 차지한 바 있다.
아쉽게 우승을 놓친 정유진 동호인은 “최선을 다해 아쉽진 않다”고 웃어 보였다. 이어 1년차 회원인 자신을 응원해준 소속 동호회(부산MBC) 회원들에게 감사함을 전했다. 그의 이번 대회 활약에 회원들이 “이게 뭔 일이고?”라며 화들짝 놀랐다고.
정 동호인은 한국GM 쉐보레 부산직영 센터서 17년 째 근무중인 정비사다. 지난 2022년에는 프로당구 PBA 트라이아웃을 거쳐 2022-23시즌 챌린지투어(3부) 2차전에 출전한 경험도 있다.
대회 공동3위는 차인태(서울 유니티, 16점) 허병업(대구 불티나, 21점) 동호인이 각각 올랐다.
한편, ‘구미 전국 동호인 당구대회’ 마지막 날인 6일에는 일반부 3쿠션 복식전(스카치) 전이 펼쳐진다. 이를 끝으로 총 1000평 규모 초대형 전시장에서 전국 각지 동호인들의 ‘화합의 장’이자 대형 당구축제로 치러져 화제를 모은 이번 대회가 막을 내린다.
